Watch Baby Yoda slaughter a town of stormtroopers in this Battlefront 2 mod

This is the way ... to get The Child into your game

A clever new mod features a playable “Baby Yoda” in Star Wars Battlefront 2 on PC. It replaces the skin used for BB-8 with a dead-ringer for The Child as seen in The Mandalorian on Disney Plus. We’ve embedded video of the little critter above, and it’s also available on YouTube.

In case you haven’t been keeping tabs on EA’s once controversial first-person shooter, there have been quite a few additions since its release in 2017. In December, developers at EA DICE announced they would be adding BB-8 as a playable character. Poe Dameron’s second-best friend arrived with a few killer special abilities in January. The mod makes good use of the model, although you can see some of its bits and bobs poking out through Baby Yoda’s pod every now and then.

The creator says the mod “should be online safe” because it only affects the client side and has no real gameplay implications. It simply replaces the model of BB-8 with one of The Child. That means no one else online will know they’ve been killed by a 50-year-old infant. But, as with all mods and online play, there’s always a chance you could face the wrath of EA’s ban hammer, so users beware.
